Picnic on July 19, 2015
Keeping our long tradition alive, Kahma Canadian Association held their annual picnic on July 19, 2015 at the Heart Lake Conservation Park Brampton. Around 100 sons, daughters and their children of Kahma gathered at the park to relax, play, sing and eat together. More importantly, like always, they shared their thoughts about the development of the village and concerns about the well being of the village. At this picnic it was decided that they should attend in a big number and participate actively in the Golden Jubilee tournament in November. A commitment of 3 lakh rupees was also made as a meager contribution towards the tournament.

Report on the Golden Jubilee Tournament November 2015
Perhaps this was the first and the only time when so many sons and daughters of Kahma living abroad came back to the dear village to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shaheedi Tournament, the Golden Jubilee, in the memory of the great shaheeds who laid their lives for the country. The event was organized by the Youth Club, Gram Panchayat and the residents of Kahma at large. We fully appreciate the unconditional support and everlasting commitment of S. Hardev Singh Kahma who has been the backbone of all the tournaments held to date. The opening ceremony was performed by him. The crown of organizing the big event goes to Satnam Singh and his team who worked tirelessly to make this event a success.

In addition to the usual very entertaining soccer and kabbaddi matches, Kahma Canadian Association made a rather unusual contribution by launching the website solely devoted the village under the name of www.kahmapind.com. The launching of the website ceremony was also performed by S. Hardev Singh Kahma

The tournament started on November 25, 2015 and continued till November 30, 2015.

The NRI’s are very grateful to the residents of Kahma, the Village Youth Club and the Gram Panchayat Kahma for welcoming and honouring them with open arms and hearts and giving them the respect far beyond their expectations.
All NRI’s are very grateful to S. Hardev Singh Kahma and S. Harpal Singh Pali who gave a wonderful reception to them at Anmol Banquet Hall in Banga.

Obituaries
It is with heavy heart we report that Karmjit Singh Baboo passed in the summer of 2016 in his home town of Sacramento California. We all enjoyed his company during the 2015 Golden Jubilee celebrations.

On December 02, 2016 we lost S. Piara Singh Sarpanch who served the village from 2003 to 2008 very diligently and with integrity. The major accomplishments during his tenure were the completion of 2nd floor rooms for the primary wing of the school and construction of safety retaining walls at the Dhab on the road going to the school.
His presence will be missed by us all.
